Description

Somi Mathews is a DPT student. She shared a story in the form of video about her life as a person of color.

Excerpt:

"My parents, being immigrants, naturally wanted to blend in with American culture so that my brother and I could learn English and adapt to life here. But as I grew up, I noticed that everyone else seemed to know their cultural roots and their identity; they could dance to Bollywood music, eat traditional foods that I had never heard of, and speak in their native languages. They seemed like they knew themselves. I realized I was missing that connection to my own culture. Did I know who I was?"
