Description

Dr. Joshua Nordman is an infectious disease fellow. He shared a personal story of grief.

Excerpt:

"...It was in moments like this that I began to ask dangerous but ultimately necessary “why?’ questions. “Why did these patients survive, and why did my father not?” I began to see each patient as my father, hitching my emotions to each of them as I hoped, prayed, and begged for their survival. Selfishly, I saw the patients’ stories not as their own but as my father’s, their families not really theirs but my own."
