Franklin E. Walton was a surgeon and instructor who spent nearly all of his 43 years in medicine at Washington University School of Medicine. Born in Medora, IL in 1902, he was educated at Missouri Military Academy and Shurtleff College prior to receiving his MD from Washington University in 1927. Walton spent his internship and surgical residency at Barnes Hospital from 1927 to 1933, serving as one of the early resident physicians for Evarts Graham. In addition, he served in Africa during WWII, reaching the rank of colonel and chief of the surgical service for the 21st General Hospital.
