216, named for the Jewish Hospital of St. Louis’ address on 216 S. Kingshighway, was published roughly every month to every two months from June 1952 to October/November 1987. In this time, it changed from an 8-page black and white publication in 1952 to a 25-page color publication in 1987. In addition to providing news of the Jewish Hospital, at its inception 216 also included news related to the Jewish Medical School, the Jewish Medical School Social Service Bureau, the Jewish Sanatorium, the Miriam Rosa Bry Convalescent-Rehabilitation Hospital, and the Jewish Hospital Auxiliary. 216 was sent to “members of the medical staff, the Board of Directors, the Auxiliary, and friend in the community.” Content included in 216 could range from employee profiles to reports of medical breakthroughs at Jewish Hospital.
