I grew up pretty lonely—an only child—and that was okay. I developed a lifestyle to keep myself entertained ad infinitum, to the point where I didn’t really need other people. This wasn’t sustainable, and there was a time where I longed for connecting with others. I certainly tried to be a glamorously edgy loner, but there was no glamor to it. The pendulum swung the other way. Suddenly I was surrounded by people, and I started shrinking, shrinking, shrinking….
