In a push to turn St. Louis Children’s Hospital into a “leading children’s hospital,” one of the goals the Board of Trustees set was improving internal communications. A quote from one of the first issues of Our Small World states, “If enough facts do not reach employees...if employees are not familiar with hospital policy or are getting their information through the grapevine, it means that management is not fast enough in informing employees about what we are thinking and planning to do. We are going to try to communicate better in 1971.”
Our Small World (also sometimes printed as Small World) was a monthly publication distributed to hospital staff. The publication ran from approximately 1970-1984. Publications ranged from 6-30 pages long.
