Description
Mallory Schmittgens is a Physical Therapy student. She shared personal artwork, a painting.
"This piece captures sunlight moving across the Gateway Arch—an image that has become deeply personal to me. St. Louis is where so many meaningful chapters of my life have unfolded. It is where my parents were married, where I pursued higher education, where I met my husband, and where I ran my first marathon. It is also where I learned how to grow—personally, creatively, and professionally. Painting the light felt symbolic: a quiet acknowledgment of how this city has held both beginnings and becoming. The Arch stands as a marker of history and possibility, while the sunlight represents gratitude—not just for what has been, but for what is still unfolding. This work is a full-circle moment. A reflection of thanks for the foundation St. Louis has given me, and for the future it continues to hold."
